Ahh.. the annual emo post on 31dec, the last day of the year. it has been a fruitful year i guess as i sit down to reflect on what's happened in the last 12mths of my life.

Jan was still rosy as mr david muscleman joined manpower branch (as a botak and being quite muscular at that time), we had doubts over our afv opr course and all.. and of cos some dxo ranking stuff done wif lta gw who was still wif us at that time.. also, the initial unknown as the new hd mp came in in dec 07...

Feb was love in the air as many ppl rushed to "chop" seats for the beautiful v-day dinner and all.. love themed movies appeared, like juno, ps i luv u (which lead to its misuse into PLATOON sergeant, i luv u) and etc.. again, a lonely v-day pass.. (nt that singlehood is all bad, but u noe, when these days come, u do feel tat it wud be nice to have someone with you to share the mood). and of cos the dreaded toilet(prison?)-break dude, now filming the 10th season (month) of Lost, and the big hoo-haa he caused. Still rem all the patrolling cops at coastlines...

Mar-May was the AFV-opr course =D where i got to noe some wonderful ppl and my first experience driving a motorized vehicle (other than $5 rides at bumper car stations or small little useless toy bikes). And also the all-too-fattening OM-er course at keat hong, which i will NEVER forget the nice western food as well as the nice new camp environment (stark contrast from Sungei Gedong).

Jun was the great/bad time, depending on how you wanna look at it bah.. was "arrowed" for Ops Duty to search for our beloved toiletbreaker at the north region. was a mentally draining duty which will be remembered for cheap soyabean, cao kueh water, roti prata and late night supper deliveries :)

Jul - Aug was a forgettable period i guess.. beijing olmypics and all the training for 21km! ohoh.. branch cohesion at SAFRA and the trip to presidential garden in ISTANA! woohoo!

Sept - Oct was abt meeting frens, prep-ing for the ranking board and also sending off our dear frens off to brunei.. I also had my first ever night cycling event wif justin and kang at joo chiat..

Nov - Dec was Birthday mood! and the ord of two of our buddies in qf and sherms.. also cleared all my lv and offs in this period.. went on a trip to hk and had lots of fun! hehe!

enuff abt my own life.. in the year past, tragedies have occurred, both local (tiger eats zookeeper) and overseas (terrorist in mumbai), both natural (si chuan earthquake) and caused by man (melamine milk poisoning incident).. Economy has also reached a new low since 1997.. for all the bad things that happened in 2008, we can rejoice in the fact that good things have happened too, first F1 race in sg, first olympic silver medal, etc. Lets hope that the year ahead will be GREAT!! Lets hope that more hungry are fed, and families stay happy together.

Alrite, jus finished a REALLY long drama series (55 episodes in all), X-Family, aka Zhong ji yi jia, which is the "Sequel" of KO no.1 (zhong ji yi ban).. tho, i haven watched zhong ji yi ban yet.. (shud be soon! darn, feeling so screwed by now..)

The story is starts wif the main cast(gold dimension) in ko no.1 losing their powers in a fight with evil and that they haf enlisted xiu (a superhuman from iron dimenson) to locate their other selves in iron and bring them over to gold to help recover their powers. xiu finds xia tian, who is one of the other selves, in iron but has no powers at all.. but he soon discovers the secret behind xia tian and his gui long (sealed inside the body)..................

alritey, a not-so-short summary of the WHOLE storyline:

fenglong card arc- some one-eyed thing eyes fenglong card (FLC from now on), and goes abt trying to get it, first thru seducing xia xiong (xia tian's mum) and then thru gui long (after learning that guilong's pick was actually the FLC).. as xia mei (tian's sis) threw han(tian's crush and eventual gf)'s drumsticks (soul-linked weapon) into mie (some demon dimension), tian rushed into mie to retrieve the sticks for an ailing han.. his "sacrificial" act touched han, who didnt think much of tian at first, deeply. but tian was affected by mie as mie, being the demonic place that it is, boosted gui long's dark powers, causing him to break out out of the seal more often and threaten to take over tian's body. whats worse was that han turned out to be a stone heart killer who had been brain washed and planted into the xia family. she failed in her mission but tian wanting to stop the power hungry gui long from becoming a demon, stabbed himself with the poison needle anyway.. but "luckily" the needle's effect nullified the demonic powers frm mie and put gui long back into control..

intermittent arc - aft the incident, the family is back to "normal" but tian still wants to save han, who is quickly turning into stone aft failing her mission.. (stone heart killers lose consciousness and are unaware of their own identity when as their normal selves). at tis time, someone sent them the long lost hui hun qu (revive song) of Ye family. They played it and saved Han.. But the next step was on for the eye's plan.. the eye saw xia yu's (tian's muggle bro) envy of his bro, tian's, prospect of becoming the zhong ji tie ke ren (ultimate superhuman), and used yu's prof to entice wif a demonic ring which lends any muggle the power to absorb the powers of other superhuman and use it as his own. yu started small on lower superhumans but soon grew poer hungry and atked higher opponents, even, the revived han who now has amnesia. on a side note, now han and tian haf become really close as tian is the only one taking care of her in her current state (the family dislikes her for trying to kill tian b4). yu even atked the "prof" aft revealing that he now no longer need the ring to absorb the powers. yu was soon caught by tian and mei, who tried to cover up for him but the truth was eventually "revealed" to their mum, xiong-ge, which became a 3 way showdown between xiong-ge (have no idea why a female is called ge), the eye and yu. the whole arc ends aft tian's "useless" dad, ye si ren, arrived with xi mo qu (wash demon song), another artifact from the demonic ye ke la na family, which scared the "ball-less" eye awy (no further part in the show). the xi mo qu was then used to return yu to his original good muggle form.

ye ke la na family "devious plot" arc - aft playing the two long lost songs from ye ke la na family, ye si ren's identity is revealed as the former "crown" prince of the evil ye family, and how he banished his own demonic powers to be wif xiong-ge. the "automatic tracking system" of the two songs also led to si ren's bro, si si sending his underling, the uber powerful lan ling king to retrieve the two artifacts as well as kill all those who have had contact with it. but, as the plot unraveled, si si plotted, to kill si ren, via some poison letter but ultimately failed as tian and frens/family managed to secure the antidote from the ex ye family physician(they knew his whereabouts thru lan ling king's help). si ren is saved but to retrieve the two items, lan ling king challenged tian's gui long. due to the huge gap in power, xiu (rem him?) returned to gold dimension to borrow da dong's (tian's other self in gold) super weapon to fight lan ling king's lan ling sword. the fight nv occurred as it was stopped in time by the news of how ye si si killed lan ling king's family.. baffled, lan ling king went back to confront si si but was defeated by the sudden appearance of the demonic fireball which sucked all his power from him..

down and out without any powers left, lan ling king was taken in by ye si ren (along with han, who has now broken up wif tian as a twist of fate reveals that they r actually half siblings). si ren had doubts over the true mastermind of the conspiracy and the plot revealed that si ren's dad, the old master had faked his own death among other plots that he had. the new chief of superhuman is revealed. tian was framed to be the killer of lan ling king's wife and several good guys. tian was finally cleared aft it was revealed that the old master had enlisted the help of zack, an evil other self of tian from the bronze dimension. aft a long and draggy, baffling extended number of episodes, the old master's intention was finally revealed to be strengthening his own demonic powers on the day of a solar eclipse (believed to be a day where evil rules) thru gui long's body.. but his plans were foiled by lan ling king, whom under the guidance of his ancestral's spirit, managed to break the 7 Star Curse seal, ironically, first casted by the ye ancestors. At this point, gui long vanished, together with the death of the old master, a calefare guy, xia yu becoming gui feng and disappearance of xiong-ge into some sub dimension (with the closing of interdimensional doors).

Training to be Ultimate Superhuman Arc - tian's will to become the ultimate superhuman increased aft his mum's disappearance and that only the weapon of the ultimate superhuman can save her. With his 7 star curse seal broken, lan ling king was oso on route to compete with tian for the position. Things were complicated when time threatens to repair itself in the absence of xiong-ge and erase all evidences of her existence in iron, including deleting her family members.. a side story at this time is lan ling king's lover-who-was-thot-to-be-dead (bing xin), was actually han's twin sis (genetically modified human from some weird Ye family plot), alive and held by a demon. the people rallied together to save her from the demonic hideout (awfully short segment which didnt seem vry difficult?), but find that bing xin is abt to die.. they learn of some unorthodox spirit energy transfer method from the ex ye family physician that could occur between han and bing xin (due to their twin status). they did so, to lend bing xin and lan ling king the precious 3 days they cud haf together with the method. this unlocked one of lan ling king's 7 curses. tian and lan ling king then set about achieving their objectives for becoming the ulti superhuman. tian received help from the legendary shen xing zhe but his powers was sealed and was severely injured by another legendary hero, gun king before he could turn into the ulti superhuman. as shen xing zhe stepped in to save tian, he becomes the ulti superhuman but was deemed unfit and caused chaos when he tried to use his powers. gun king (shown to be demonised) appeared again to try to entice tian to the darkside by claiming that tian was the cause of all the chaos and ti would be rectified if he did so to return the balance. but a bigger twist was awaiting as gun king and shen xing zhe were revealed to be alter egos of the same body and the embodiment of both the purest good and darkest evil in one body was the cause of the chaos. To rub salt into their wounds, the Almighty Flaming God-like-thingy (afg from now on) appeared to vanquish the world.. even though the cause of the chaos was killed as shen xing zhe killed himself in redemption, AFG continued on his mission and the finale was a showdown between him and characters from the iron dimension. tho AFG was too powerful for tian and gang, he was touched by hw tian and frens tried to protect even the evil beings frm doom and gave up. the usual happy ending, bleah. (I WANT MORE FIGHTING!!!)


some afterthoughts:
- A FREAKING LONG AND DRAGGY SERIES!(can see frm my summary bah?)
- random killing of characters without much conclusion! (GUI LONG!)
- lame storyline! (still alrite)
- events dun really connect vry well (if Feng long card was so impt, why no one else wants it? O.o)
- basically jus an ou xiang ju to kill time (lots of it, wif 55 episodes!)

met up on fri wif han meng at j8 for movie and "hunting for sports apparel".

we watched "bedtime stories" which starred adam sandler. the story is abt this guy who had to babysit his niece and nephew, but the twist is that all the bed time stories that he makes up, would come true the following morning. as usual for "movies targeted at younger audiences", the story is kinda guy-turns-out-good and abit forced (despite my personal view that he shud nt be "honoured" as the hero of story for the ways that he tried to manipulated the stories to his own benefit). A movie for those with a kid in us who believe in a gd fairytale ending..

walked arnd abit aft the show and then we went to amk hub. bought an UMBRO "vapatech" shirt frm sportslink, quite cheap, oni 12.90 nia.. and the design isnt bad :)

met up wif david on sat at suntec/ cityhall area.. walked arnd to see the adidas sales items.. nt vry good la.. kinda disappointed.. but saw this "warehouse" sale at near duckie tours de area.. got levis and some femalewear, interested de ppl can go check it out bah? levis jeans starting at 55.. nt sure hw long it wud last tho?

ahhh! last of my leavesssss alr.. gonna go back to mon-fri, 7-6 shift soon...

its xmas~ stay at home all day.. watched "nv ren bu huai" on com, didnt realli catch the plot.. funny story la.. the only gimmick is that it was written wif females in mind, that all bah? or maybe too artistic for me to understand le..

speaking of movies, watched "wu xia liang zhu" that other day on the com oso.. it starred wu zhun (of Fei lun hai fame) and charlene choi (twins). its basically a liang shan bo and zhu ying tai story re-enacted in a kungfu novel kinda style. beautiful scenery and cast aside, the story is pretty predictable and the acting bland. looks more like a 2hr "ou xiang ju" than anything else.. hohoho!

hmm.. its xmas eve night.. dunno but nt vry interested in going out bah.. dun wanna go squeeze with everyone at orchard counting down or kena spray aerosols by freaking irritating foreign workers.. just wanna haf vry 平安的平安夜.. alritey.. urgh, something is on my mind.. freakinggggg irritating my otherwise 平安的平安夜! if only i can perform a split like amoeba or something.. 2 eddies! one can serve ns and one can study.. maybe i should learn naruto's kage bushin no jutsu(ninja skill that allow u to create a copy of urself)..

Merry Xmas everyone!
Met up wif edmund and hm at north pt today. wah.. so long nv go lor.. like totally changed sia, the place.. now got new extension zones, but still under construction, so mus wait abit..

watched "yes man" by jim carrey at gv yishun. the show is abt carl (played by jim) who has a negative attitude to everything, enclosing himself into his own little world and shutting out everyone else as a result of a failed marriage. This led to failure in job and in life. one fine day, he attended a "say yes" seminar by chance and it totally changed his thinking. he now says yes to even the most absurd things. This opened him up to new opportunities and success in life, but he soon realises that saying yes all the time is as bad as saying no all the time.. hence, the story ends with him finding the balance between the two and happily ever after.

ok, the show storyline is pretty cliche, i must say.. but kudos to jim carrey for the comical portrayal of the character, which, really value-added to the entertainment value of the show. there were many realli funny scenes which certainly made the show value for the 7 bucks that i paid. :) a gd show to watch and relax but not a must watch.

just finished 黑糖群侠传. quite a nice drama. shows all the special effects kungfu fighting in a modern environment, sort of like hua shan gao xiao movie. the plot is sort of alrite, with a cast with goodlooks (lollipop and hey girls). the main flaw of the show is probably the ending as the "much fabled" 7-man-formation wasnt used and they just chiong-ed onto the mega big boss, dong fang bu bai in the end and kena knocked back. and dong fang bu bai was portrayed by a male voice thru-out the show but oni shown to be a woman (fan wei qi) in e end (not shown in the drama -> he studied the qui hua bao dian which required him to castrate). Also, the fabled 5-man formation of the unorthodox sect wasnt really showed, and the members went down rather easily.. the ending jus seemed too rushed and crowd-pleasing. perhaps another 2-3 episodes would have had been better (the mega fight took oni, 10min? which isnt vry long for a wu xia drama) in overall, quite disappointing la.. but if u jus wanna ogle at the pretty babes and hot hunks on show in the drama (pretty xiao hu shi! :P ), it should satisfy you. :)

alritey! some updates! haven been vry well these few days.. some sore throat / flu bug breeding inside me (yet i completed 13km in total over the 3 days T_T) anywayz, wed was the only full "working day" cos thursday, we had a xmas lunch and event in office, hence we didnt realli work much..

was a gd event, thx to the guys in orderly rm for organizing but, the food is abit substandard la.. can be improved but definitely better than anything the cookhouse can serve up :) the games wasnt that bad either (we won!) hahaz.

the fun day continued aft working hrs as we (leslie me and koala) went out to meet qf and sherman for dinner in lieu of leslie's 21st bday celeb. met at jurong pt and ate at yaki yaki bo.

we all ordered the same thing which was the item on promotion (teriyaki chicken set @ 11.90+++) turned out to be quite a bargain as it was a complete set meal with miso soup, garlic rice, main course of teriyaki chicken with bean sprouts, side dish of shitake mushroom and garlic bread and nt to mention a small plate of sliced orange. afraid that we would not be full from the meal, leslie decided to top up the meals wif a jap "something i cudnt catch"-shi which was essentially jap pizza. both were delicious. :)

Edmund and hm had brought a cake for leslie earlier in camp but he decided only to cut it at the dinner, so after all the jap jappy stuff were finished, we moved on to the cutting of his birthday cake! HAPPY 21st, LESLIE! The manager on shift had actually brought out the ake for us, and sung leslie a little bday song, which was quite sweet of her. on top of that, they provided a complimentary scoop icecream for us all. lemon mint flavour :)

aniway, played 1hr plus bball wif ric in e morning as a form of ex for the day :) till arnd 10plus thennua till lunchtime liddat.. had lunch wif aikky and ric @ hougang int there, western food, cheap and pretty good :)

went on to Plaza sing for movie, The Day the earth stood still, starring keanu reeves (NEO!!! CONSTANTINE!!!). quite alrite movie, i guess, tho like all the other major disaster movies, it lacks originality and a punch (always, human spoiling the earth and blah blah blah). The acting by keanu reeves is commendable i guess, alien and impartial, with a cold cold look in his eye, but yet, save the day in e end. what's amusing is how movies always seem to undermine a govt's ability, i believe they are much better organised than whats portrayed. anyway, tis movie is nt a must-watch, esp since if u have caught any of the previous disaster movies.. tho, if ur a keanu reeves fan, GO FOR IT! :)

Ric bought a realli exp non-cam fone lor, at PS.. Sony Ericsson G700.. useful to him bah. since he is a reg mah.. gonna use it more than we do.. (6mths more to ord~!)

met up wif yik shu and glen for lan. Live 4 Dead. its tis new FPS game, that is vry much like house of the dead, only thing is, its 4 PEOPLE~! and u actually get to explore the places urself.. is it cool or wat? well.. nt bad la.. but awhile can get real sian.. esp if we keep getting pawned by the AI. played abit more CS then realised it was almost 10, so i rushed back le.. TML STILL GOTTA GO CAMP! urgh! wat am i doing here? SHIT! time to slp~ CIAOS~

Just completed this drama (within 48hrs! woo hoo!) starring the 9 members of Hei Se Hui Mei Mei (now known as Hey Girls) and 6 members of Lollipop. It called Caramel Macchiato or Hei Tang Ma Qi Duo. Vry Ou xiang Ju-ish, pretty old show, given that it was filmed back in 2007 when tong tong was still part of Hey girls. The storyline is abt 6 only-child guys who were suddenly called to live together in a bid to inherit a large sum of money from their common dad (diff mum). They had to follow many rules set by the old man, who was recuperating overseas, and were taken care of by Ya Tou, their cute housekeeper. Through the 13 episodes, they faced relationship problems, sabotage from people who eye on their large inheritance, school work issues, friendship trials and many more..

It's a qing chun xiao yuan ou xiang ju that has lots of vibe, energy and school yard love in the air. In short, a great show to watch and pass your time.

cool day today.. did some stat bike cycling in the morning and went out wif edmund & hm to amk hub in the afternoon for pool.. piangz, kenah trash like nth.. ball skill sux.. nid to learn hw to form the bridge properly lor. the cue keep missing.. :( also learnt a new game whereby 3 ppl can play pool together.. sort by number sia.. fun :)

had dinner at sumohouse AMK, nt bad lar, ordered a katsudon (like always) and a plate of 5 gyoza. nt bad, set me back oni $4.80. cheap and filling meal.. :)

did a xmas dinner thingy at Fish & Co Glasshouse (near Plaza Sing) wif the folks from my army unit. invited all the old-timers too.. but in e end oni got 11 (me, leslie, qf, sherman, weihong, lian sheng, su xiong, thomas, tim, colin and leomund).. was good la, to see weihong again, esp since he ord-ed one yr ago and was kind enuff to patronize us (he ate dinner alr, then come to chit chat abit wif us).

ate the Fish & chips.. not too bad.. the atmosphere in the place was kinda noisy, lots of chatter and stuff.. but i do like the live band.. lots of realli nice pop music. the ambiance (minus the noise) was also quite delightful.

went to LAN gaming aft the dinner, as some of the left (oni 6 ppl played.)

today stayed at home.. apart from morning swim (30laps :) ) + haircut.. the haircut was rather bad.. so short! now mus tink of ways to style it to make it look better le.. haissssssss... ugly.

started catching a new drama series, wu di san bao mei, on youtube.. nt bad sia.. the plot is funny, the actors r goodlooking too. :)

met up wif jason and lisa for dinner.. had steamboat at a korean themed restaurant.. the food is so so la.. actually for that priced, we cud haf gone to seoul garden for buffet.. more filling and got icecream! but a decent meal nevertheless, esp since jason treated.. :P should get him something for xmas, dun u tink?

we then had icecream at gelare！ first time dining in there.. abit ex tho.. still prefer ben and jerry's! super super super nice icecream! anyway, had blueberry cheesecake flavor at gelare, single cone.. sweet sweet de..

tridansh and jeck came down to join us for a while.. chit chatted abit.. followed them to subway as they took dinner.. chit chat abit more.. then home sweet home :) was nice catching up la.. abit disappointed that i cudnt go to the ab11 guys meeting.. tired (jus touch to singapore when they meet) and timing also cannot realli conincide.. plus i dunno wheres siglap.. maybe next time a meeting in town or something bah?
06/12/08: Day in Shen Zhen
went to shen zhen on the third day.. took MTR from hung hom wif the rest of the tour grp to Lo Wu.. quite convenient la, now that hk is part of china.. can easily take train up and the arrival procedure takes less than 10min.. lesser if ur a frequent traveller / diplomatic passport holder or a local.

anyway, took the bus ride and went on a freaking few hr of weird rides arnd town where they try to trick us to buy their overpriced merchandised.. went to a jade cultural museum thing and then a Traditional Chinese Medicine centre which was opened by the chinese govt. overpriced.. went on for a lunch at a local restaurant.. the setting is a little different from what i haf had in HK, but the food was great, still nth too special, all eat b4 in singapore alr..

the highlight of the day was the trip to "Window of the World", where they had miniatures of all the different iconic buildings in the word. here are some pics (took alot of them.. all on facebook, ask me on msn or something if u wanna see):

went back to Kowloon and shopped arnd mongkok till tsim sha tsui on foot.. dumped my parents and walked alone.. kinda fun la.. mingling wif the crowd and all.

07/12/08 - prepare to fly back to singapore and some last min shopping/walking.

Jade market in the morning. bought some jade accessories for my family. quite cheap too.. haggled till abt 18hkd.. which is arnd 3-4sgd.. :)

local soya bean.. quite thick and less sugar.. overall, good!

walked around alittle more with the soyabean in hand into their morning market and continued mingling in the crowd (helps to be chinese in a chinese country) :) their markets are vibrant unlike ours, confined to shops, theirs operate via pushcarts and the prices are quite cheap too.. bought 2x 2009 mini calendar (HK pub hols).

and then went back to hotel to check out... back to singapore!

this is my first far awy trip.. awy frm South East Asian country! and apart from some little problems here and there, it was a great experience bah.. to learn new things and look at the difference in culture. :) next stop, taiwan 2009! anyone?

moved on to see some jewellery stuff.. which i felt was quite lame.. then they tried to sell us some overpriced "lucky" pendant from 1k+ hkd.. (later shen zhen wud quote 400 hkd and jade market had a 280hkd one.. LOL)..

on to the nxt exciting part which was the sampan boat ride.. altho singapore has a similar ride at the singapore river, i feel tis is more enriching.. seeing pubs and clubs at singapore river aint anything special bah.. but this.. is a new experience. i will let the pics do the talking :)

anyway, the fishing village might disappear soon le.. wif the rapid growth of the city area, it might not be there next yr this time, so do take some time to go down for a spin in the sampan if u do drop by..

now for a lighter side of life, went to tsim sha tsui and saw this



they realli lack parking places sia..

aniway, ate at a posh restaurant for lunch.. the food is nt bad, and the atmosphere is reminiscent of pariss seafood restaurant in singapore (grand eh?)..

walked arnd ladies street which didnt haf much stuff... all the cheap shirts r also cheap in quality.. but bought a belt for 20hkd.. works up to abt 4 bucks sgd.. nt bad la.. jus a normal cloth belt wif a diesel buckle. walked abit more b4 heading back to hotel for a short nap..

woke up at 6pm and went to temple street night market.. quite cool sia, the place.. its like a pasar malam environment, jus tat its everyday. sells everything and anything. bought jeans at a chain jeans store there (real shop! not pasar malam) it even has a website! quite cheap la.. the cheapest pair is 100 for 2 jeans.. mind you, its in hkd.. works out to 50 for each.. and tats 10sgd! i bought one pair which was 100 ea.. so tats 20sgd.. but in all still pretty affordable :)

went walking arnd abit more in the shopping centres arnd mongkok / yau ma tei area, b4 heading back..
